    astra mk5 -spare key

folks looking for some advice plz

bought my astra 56 plate from a dealership, went to pay for it, salesman told me that they didnt have a spare (the car came up from another branch)

they said they would sort a spare key out (no cost to me).

anyways they are now saying that they arent liable as its a used car!!!

going in tommorow to give them hell!!

how much is it for a spare key?

I bought my 05 plate astra in June from a dealer and was told there was only one key but they said they would get me a new one in two weeks.

About one week later they called and told me to bring the car in so they can sort out the key codes.

I think your dealer are being cheap.

    cheers for the replies folks

    went into today

basically before i singed deal, the saleman told me he would sort out a spare key for me

bout a week later, he phoned me and asked to bring in the codes so he could get one made up, didnt hear for ages so i went in, he tried to fob me off with some crap about dispute between which branch was rewspinsible for paying

anyways 2 months later they phone me and say they are noy paying, im responsible for the cost...raging,

anyway the wife was with me when the salesman told me he would sort one out

spoke with the manager he has offered to pay half of it £ 45, and ive to pay £45

    told them no chance

waiting to hear back form them

    can they do this?

a verbal agreement is just as binding as a written one (BUT uve got to prove it. ur word vs theirs)

to be honest i would have had it written into the contract to stop it happening as sale staff lie to get the deal (learnt from 1st hand).

keep on and on at them, and hopefully they will breakdown and pay up.
if all else fails take them up on the pay half offer (if the key is £60+vat) and they are paying £45, then u only have 15+vat.
oh and get it coded for free.

alternatively cant u get a key on ebay, and re-programme it yourself?

Its a disgrace what the dealers try to fob people off with. If they said they would do it then hold them to their word, even if it means going there every few days and bugging the balls off the salesman until he sorts it. If they still wont pay tho 45 quid aint bad. my dad just paid 150 quid for a new one for the T5

my wife was there when he said it, he was alone!!...and why would he fone me and ask me to bring the key code in???...no mention of having to pay for it.

the manager said they would provide the ket at cost price £90, i pay half, said it the cost for a customer was £150 usually

i foned a couple of other dealers, they qutoed me £80!!!

the manager is trying to pull a fast 1 i think!!!
