Central locking - whats at fault?

    Hi everyone

was just wondering if theres a common fault as to why my central locking would stop working besides a flat key battery as iv changed myn. I did the normal thing to sync the car with the key in the ignition and that worked for a bit but now it doesnt work at all.

    any help would be great

    many thanks

    ant.

Does it work with the key in the door or when you press the button down?

Does the LED on the key flash when you push it?

my fob works intermittantly atm. The LED sometimes stays on quite long and other times won't come on at all or will flicker dimly. Apparently shoving some paper inside helps make contact or something.

Hi everyone thanks for your reply, its somewhat of a releif that you guys are having the same issues.

It works fine in the door as a normal key.

It used to and sometimes still does light up and the led used to stay on for a long time. But sometimes it does'nt light up at all.

Just wondering if I need a new key unit or something?

    Thanks again

My key fob started only working intermittantly, like I said above sometimes the LED would stay on for 3 or 4 seconds and other times it would blink dimly. I folder paper up and put it between the caseing and the battery and it works fine again. I think the battery mount was starting to come lose from the PCB. I would say it sounds like you are having a similar problem.

Give it a try, much cheaper than buying a new fob and getting it coded to your car.
