Shampoo all the seats and carpets and use an odour eliminating air freshener should do the trick nicely mate.

The head lining in your car will probably be full of nicotine, try the fabric shampoo in a squirty bottle, spray a small area, agitate with a bush, Wipe withe DAMP towel, rinse this out in a bucket of water. The key is to not get it too wet as it will sag.

Smoke rises so giving the head lining a good clean should get rid of allot of the smell.

Take your ashtray out also and give it a good long soak in some hot water and household cleaners.

and with GazTd's advice you should be well sorted

Also you can get a BOMB for the car. A mate used one on his and said it got rid of the smoke smell from previous owner.

its like an aerosol can, stick it in the car with windows closed, fans turned on (recirc mode) and leave it for half hour or whatever the can says. Whatever is in the can then goes all round the car and pipework to get rid of the smell.
