NOOOB right here.. new system help

Hey guys i was needing help with a few things for a new sound system.

I have a 2x12 MTX terminator sub that im puting in, and i was wondering,

1 - I have to get two amps right? one for the speakers and one for the sub?
2- How many watts amp do i need for the speakers and then the other amp for the sub how many watts.
3 - If i have two amps do i need anything special like a capacitor? i just dont want a fire or anything
4 - could i just buy an amp for the sub because i dont mind the stock speakers and headunit? would this work? could i connect the sub to the head unit some how?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    1. No, You can get 4/5/6 channel amps.

On a 4 channel you could have 2 channels running your speakers, and 2 channels in bridged mode to run your subs in parallel.

    2. Whats the RMs of the speakers and the subs?

    3. moot point if you get a 4 channel

    4. Yeah you could jsut buy a mono amp. Easy enought to wire, but difficult with the stock CDR500 h/u.

    Where you based?

    Pm me for more help

my setup in mine was a vube sub and amp together then i had my kicker amp runnign my 6x9's in the rear shelf battery on the sastras are pritty good so didnt go down the capacitor route, i basically had a large power cable coming from the battery which was fuesd then that went to a splitter again they had fueses in and they split off to the amps,

wattage of amp well my speaker one is 200w rms which matched up with my 6x9's so depends what speakers you are using as to what power you can go upto,

if you need a amp etc i have my kicker for sale and i have the splitter for the amp wiring you can have with it

nathan beat me to the post lol (you can also use a 4 way amp but normally you will end up with the same power to each amp ie if its a 400w 4 channel amp it will run 100ws down each route i had my kicker map above running my 15" sub before and i basiccally joined the 2 out puts it has together to give the full power to the sub.

    thanks for you reply guys.

The sales guy at a shop said it be hard to find an amp with enough power to run a whole system ie 2x12 and the speakers? i dont know if he is talking BS?

The sub does 1200watts i believe i dont know how many rms? i was looking at a kicker 08ZX7005 760W 5-Channel Amplifier or something?

This amp is a mono (single channel) and is perfect for your subs, It does mean if you want to amp your speakers you will need a second amp, but this is a well matched amp.

just a thought being a momo amp that will mean he needs 2 unless the sub box has one amp input and splits it which is unusual i havent seen one to say either way though

this spl amp isnt a bad price and gives you a rms of 200 for each sub not heard any bad things about this make either its not a compertition amp or anything like the kickers etc but its a decent quality for the price just depends what your budget is,

where abouts int he country are you mate can always take a look at what you have and give you a hand installing it all if you like?
