    Help from the Scottish Region!

    Afternoon all!

Need some help from the Scottish contingent. The girlfriend and I are looking to come up and visit Edinburgh at the end of the month. She's never been to Scotland and she's fed up with me constantly raving about how beautiful the city is so she wants to see for herself.

We're looking at The George hotel. Can anyone recommend any other hotels in the vacinity that are a similar rating and price? We'd really like the stay to be special so we'd like a nice hotel.

Finally, what sort of price would I be looking at for a taxi from Edinburgh airport to the city centre?

    Cheers guys!

George Hotel is a good shout to stay in - or try Tiger Lilly's hotel possibly, similar prices, and just at the other end of George street.

George Hotel has a cool bar ajoined, Tempus, and LeMonde is just across the road, along with plenty of clubs etc for night time. Day time it's basically dead centre of all the decent shops and you can see the Castle and such from there too.

    Go for it

As above, George Hotel is at the top end of the scale.

If I were you I would also check out Lothian Buses website. They have a frequent and direct Airport Bus, number 100, that goes to and from the City Centre. It has big luggage racks etc, so might be easier and a bit cheaper than a taxi.

Have a look and see if it goes past the George Hotel

What scale are you talking about? :P

If you want special, try the Balmoral or for something a little more cosy and less pretentious try Channings. Neither are cheap, but they are definitely stays to remember

A taxi from the Airport to City Centre will range from £13 to £25 depending on the company. If you get a black cab on the rank (left of the entrance) it'll be around the £20 mark. If you go to the 'Information/Airport Taxis' stance in the arrivals halls you'll speak to 'Marie' most likely. They're private hire and will negotiate the price. Most likely get it for about £15 or thereabouts.
