    Civic type r

My dad is thinking of buying one after the new year, i was just wondering what peoples views on these are and if anyone has any 1st hand experience with them. Ive heard that they are very good cars, great fun and are quite nippy but just wanted a 2nd opinion.

It isnt the newer shape but the one before

I would suggest doing a search on the forum, as the CTR has been mentioned many many times before on here in the past

I have a few mates with them and me being a previous honda owner id say they are good cars. Reliable and nippy yes but you have to drive them very hard to get the best out of them, vtec doesnt come in untill about 5250rpm so when overtakeing you sometimes have to drop 2 gears rather then one. Interior in them is very nice aswell.

had one before i got my turbo coupe. and i prefer the coupe, ctr is great and handles really well but mpg is crap unless driven really slowly. i prefer torque to revs so for overtaking its crap for me and the gears are to close together. gearchange can get sloppy but has a nice short through for rapid changes. it eats tyres aswell with no traction control.

A word of warning though. Not sure if Honda has changed this, but if you have a flat tyre at the front, the spare wheel will not fit over the brakes. You will need to move a wheel from the rear to the front and slap the spare on the rear.
