Track car on a £400 budget...

My uncle and cousins are looking at going to The Ring next year with a few of their mates. The challenge that has been set down is to get there and around (in the best time possible) in a car that only cost £400.

Has anyone got any suggestions? They're pretty handy with DIY mechanics but their experience is gnerally with Triumphs (mostly Spitfires, GT6s, TR6s, etc).

I've pointed out a Vectra V6 on MIG that has a poorly engine and suggested that they keep a look out for Astra GTE bargains on ebay but I've also said that it may be worth trying to pick up a MK3 astra and chucking in an XE or XEV or something (should just about be under budget if they shop smart).

    Anyone got any other suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Steve

yeah would say looking outside the vaux box for a budget track car. That BMW seems a good start.

Nova was my thought, cheap and easy to modify a bit further, but something like that BMW would be hard to beat!
