    Tappets

    tappet's on my coupe seem to be a bit noisy on idle. is this the same as other peoples cars?? its not super noisy but noticable. is this a problem or just a common thing with Z20let??

    TBH i wouldnt worry about it. ZLETS are known to be noisy, especially on a cold morning.
    mine sounds like a diesel lol until its settled down and warmed up

    What do you mean by noisy?
    Its normal to hear a ticking noise when in front of car and bonnet open. thats not the tappets its the injectors.
    But if you hear a ticking noise from inside the car thats not normal! Normally a worn tappet fills with oil slower then a new one hence when you do a cold start its normal to hear a ticking noise for 3-10 seconds. Anything beyond that needs repair. Tappets are relatively easy to change ... you don't need to dismantle the whole engine, just the cams and cover need to go off
    The only way to be 100% certain that work has been done properly is to do it yourself.

    its a ticking noise all the time. as im new to vauxhalls im probably being paranoid???

    Its ok I think my tappets, ends and crank barings are all on the way out.

    70k of my driving is not that bad really.... Usually cars last me 20k lol

    Does it go quieter when engine gets warmer? And you hear that from inside the car?
    I could be something else not the tappets mate. Like a split gasket on exhaust somewhere (like after the turbo).
    The only way to be 100% certain that work has been done properly is to do it yourself.

    its only slightly louder when cold. after its been running its noticable but not as loud??
