I have exactly the same problem......

Basically i installed a new headunit, all was fine until half way through journey it just totally turned off (I thought id blown a fuse because i did have the music pretty loud). Checked all fuses, they were fine so ive put old headunit back in (cdr500)....says 'safe' so ive tryed holding AS and switching on but i get nothing at all...no beeps, or change from 'safe' on the display. Its so frustrating because ive had no music in my car for weeks now!!! I just want to put the code in and get it working

It does have a cd that starts to spin up when i turn it on that i obviously cant remove until ive unlocked it but do you think this could be stopping from working?

Do you think i should take to somewhere to get it fixed? if so where, would vauxhall service people help me out with this type of thing??
