    Digital TV

    Hello all,

We have free view and always have done since the crap came out, but can only get 15 odd channels, I want to know if a booster would help at all? we have one but makes no difference what so ever...

The problem being we live in a flat and there is one above us, then the Ariel on the roof of the two flats, would the booster help sat in our front room? next to the Ariel socket? as I here it should be as close to the arial as possible?

Have been looking at the following
    Konig AMP-PRO30
    Labgear PUH111

do you think it will help? our post code is sn10 5es

    regards

Have you tried a standalone aerial? I was very surprised at my relatives picture quality with a funny looking standalone DigitalTV specific aerial plugged in to a 26" widescreen TFT.

Never a fan of boosters myself, if the signal is pants (technical term!) then what can it boost? Digital TV uses 0's and 1's to transmit data - if it is missing some of those in the signal then a booster isn't going to help.

If your aerial is on top of a block of flats, you're probably already getting pretty good reception. You could try a booster to see if it improves matters.

Also check your postcode at http://www.digitaluk.co.uk... should give you a rough idea what channels to expect where you are

Booster helped me get all channels (more or less) from only getting around about 10 or less, i didn't even get bbc1 or 2, with the booster i got them all and picture quality was fine, looked pretty good on my 37" tv and only ever had problems in bad weather.

I'm with NRY, may be worth trying a set top twig to help matters. I've seen some good result with Vivanco set top ariels IIRC.

By having a booster close to the TV all you are doing is amplifying an already crap signal.

noooo, not on a block of flats, there's just upstairs and us down stairs, same size as a large house....

and also in a bit of vally, at the bottom of a big hill, a castle one side and a large church the other...

If you know someone with a booster, id borrow it and try it, you may be suprised, the freeview website told me i would only get basic channels, i had a proper digital freeview areial on the roof pointed in the right direction and i could only pickup what i was meant to, with a booster i got them all.
