    Unhappy 2.0DTI Power Surges/losses HELPPPP!!!!

    Whilst driving my car i am experiencing changes in the power.

    At times In 4th and 5th gear you hit 3000 revs and then it drops to 2500 or below and surges up and down.
    At times In 2nd it randomly shoots up the revs really fast and then dies off to low revs. (sometimes)

    The power delivery is slow and patchy at times and its a bit noisy.

    The Car etc:
    2.0DTI 53 plate Hatch
    Had a OIl change and Fuel Filter change today
    Veccy Air intake pipe and Airbox derestriction.

    Has the problem developed since the fuel filter change?
    Does the engine seem to cut out then surge?

    yeah since it was done:
    and basically yuou accelerate, then it slowly goes up, picks up at bout 2.5k hits 3k then drops offback down a load, then goes up again as normal.

    dont do it everytime though, i spoke to a VX mechanic and she had never heard of it before and dint know what it was, ive checked plugs etc and there all okies its odd

    Sounds like you are drawing air into the pump, make sure you have not overtightened the top of the filter (should be 6nm) and it is on nice and square and it is topped up with diesel. Check the condition of the forward and retun pipes, are they in nice and tight, sometimes they get disturbed when the filter is changed, or the plastic clips get damaged.

    seems to have cleared up now.
    Going to get a Haynes guide (trade card i have makes cheaper) lol and look over an di have a diagnostic unit on the way as well!!

    Did fix the air filter pipe by getting some hose clips and fixing it in though, cheers though mate
