Wierd, I have that, but darn me if I've managed to work out what it is in 6.5 years of ownership of my MK4!

Get someone in the passenger seat (could be you) and turn the bass up - keep pushing and putting pressure on the dash to see if you can trace it, maybe even take the glovebox out incase it is from behind there.

mines the same, sounds like its coming from that little plastic strip that runs along the windscreen at the front of the dash board (where the air from the vents comes out) put my hand on it, silence! couldnt change gear though so had to let it go

The plastic heater ducts beneath that grille by the windscreen viberate and buz , I put some self adhesive foam in between the duct and the dash stuck it to the duct and no more rattling or buzzing , You can buy it from any where car audio shops they use it behind head units or B&Q or similar

    Yes yes yes yes!!!!!

The bloody interior buzzing noise. Had 3 MK4 Astra's so far, 1.6 Hatch, 1.8 Hatch and 1.8 Coupe and they all had this bloody buzzing noise that drove me mad trying to find it.

Half way down the centre console, the spongy feeling between the centre console and the glove box, if you press on a certain part of it, the buzzing will stop. I've noticed cold starts make it worse, or putting the air conditioner on in hot weather, once the centre console cools it starts. God only knows what's causing it.

But it's a right pain in the arse as it's quite audible at times even the radio / CD player is on!!!
