Bonnet release cable tention - help needed

Ive been havin trouble with my bonnet release cable, it's gone slack and now the bonnet can't be opened by just pulling the release leaver, i have to use a pair of pliers to pull the cable enough. Thats putting extra wear on the cable and it seems like only a matter of time before it snaps.

Is it possible to adjust the tention? I've been thinkin i could put a coller around the cable to exstend it but not sure if it will work, anybody have an better ideas/had this problem before?

the problem is the crap screw that claps the cable on the slam panel not staying tight enough, I replaced mine with a small bolt and nut done up tight, no more slipping cable now. I think theres a pic in my diary thread.
