    Fused or unfused distribution block??

I'm buying up some bits to get stuck in to getting the ground work done for my install.

What I would like to know is do i need a fused or an unfused distribution block?

I have one length of 1/0 AWG power cable running from the battery which is already fused about 6 inches from the battery itself. Do i need fuses on the 4 AWG i plan to use for the two amp power cables as well?

    Cheers in advance

    Yes you do

You need a fused distribution block with the corresponding correct fuses goin to each power cable for the amp, eg if both amps are 60amp then two 60 amp fuses or if you have a 40 and 60 amp then match them with 40 and 60 amp fuses.

(i know i recommend this but i myself am using an unfused distribution block for my power but am only running 4 gauge with a 60amp fuse)

Usually you use a fused for the power and a non-fused for your earth.

Ok cheers pal. This is what i've just ordered from across the pond:

It's a combination fuse block with 1 x 0AWG power input and 1 x 0 AWG earth input and 2 x 4AWG fused power outlet and 2 x 4 AWG unfused earth outlet. Should keep things neat and do everything in one piece of kit

if i team this up with a streetwires earth terminal wich has a huge contact area, will it give a really good earth or would i be better going direct from the amp to the earth point?

It depends if you have more than one amp mate. if you have 1 amp i'd go straight to earth. If you have more than one amp then i'd go from dizzy block.

i've not finalised what i wanna do but i was thinking 2 amps so i thought the dizzy block might keep things neater. I was just worried that i might lose a bit of the earthing capapbility by going from 2 to 1 through the dizzy.

I was hoping to get a really good connection with the earth so i can run the power and speaker wire side by side

Earth should always be as short as possible (no matter what cable)
