My astra has a mind of its own.

Its weird really, some days I think it actually chooses to run good or bad. Firstly i noticed this morning went to my car put the front panel of my stero on and the steering wheel control are not working? Anyone know what may have caused this?

Secondly another problem I've been having for months now but its getting to me is the steering seems to go to the left, the tracking has been checked and its fine? Any suggestions also noticed lately the steering seems lighter than usual?

Some days it seems to run rough, today was very smooth, went nicely through the gears etc. Just a bit confused really, got a new cambelt kit today so going to get it looked at when its being fitted. Is there anything i can check myself... just so your aware i'm not mechanically minded. Thanks
    Kind Regards,

    Dean

might be sounding a bit of an arsse but when it veers to the left is it not the camber of the road ??

and mine runs rough and its because it needs a new maf sensor...doubt its the problem with yours ....cold weather might be havin an effect lol

the camber of the road mate, not the straightness

the camber on some roads would pull the car to the left,

also was it a windy day??

side wind could have an effect....when im on the a19 i get blown all overr

the camber is different on evry road...some have a larger camber for the water to run to the sides of the road....so it could still be that

It seems a bit severe for the camber of the road, i can take some corners by letting go of the wheel if its to the left, only small corners that is.

Also with the steering wheel controls, anyway to reset them? The new sony stero got fitted last week with the correct adapters worked fine until the other day?

    Its a 54 plate astra g 1.4 16v enjoy.
    Kind Regards,

    Dean

Was it cold? If so it maybe that one of the electrical connectors either in the dash of behind the wheel has contracted a bit (tiny amount but enough to break the connection), if worked again as car warmed up I'd say that was it.

Ref steering, if wheel offset even on straight ahead? If so then the front tracking maybe out, easy enough fix. What is the tyre wear like?

Tyre wear is fine, I've checked no excessive wear or any signs, tracking is checked and fine. The wheel controls dont work no matter what, i heard there maybe a way to reset them if u hold something down?
