What new speakers to buy ???

I am considering changing the rear speakers in my sporthatch but am unsure what to replace them with. I would like something that will handle a lot of volume and bass and has a good sound coming out but also something thats not to expensive.

    ANY SUGGESTIONS ???

How much are you prepared to spend and do you intend to amplify them?

Again it depends on what you want to spend?

    Pioneer TS-E1702IS (around £70 mark)

what ive got in the 5dr. plus if u wanted to amp them at a later date they are fine

Alpine SPS-17C2 - (£60ish will sound good on and off an amp)
JBL P652 (i believe around £70 - if they are the ones i think my mate has, sound brilliant when running from the stereo, but better off an amp)

do u want coax speakers or componants?

To get a good bass through the rear speakers you will more than likely have to go down the route of sealing the doors, or failing that you could try and source some 6" woofers?

If you want bass from them i would recommend staying away form the "co-ax" style of speaker.

coax speakers are a single speaker that contains ur bass driver along with the tweater stuck on it. - good for quick replacements but not so good if u are building a massive and expensive install

componants are 2 speakers (1x bass driver 1x tweater). The tweater will replace the OE one in the blanking plate behind the mirrors.

imo if ur not gonna amp them then coax will be fine for you (esp if u look at the ones i listed)

ive got the alpines but they will run better if amped (but good enough now as the mk5 already has componants in the front) so u can just use the OE tweater to give it a crisper sound.

i'd go for components if u're after decent sound - but if it's for ur rear speakers u're probably as well just getting some coaxils

not sure where u'd put the tweeter for rears - so coaxils may save u a lot of headaches

im in a similar boat as u just now, but have decided im going to put comps in the front and coax's in the rear - saying that tho, i have a mk4, not mk5 so not sure wot the factory ice setup is like
