Done the first mod today, bit of an easy one really, put the shelf in the glove box, only cost £3-4 from local dealer and fits perfect. Cruise Control is next on the list hopefully.
Over the last couple of weeks, (only had car last couple of weeks, Astra H 2005 1.7CDTI, 52000 miles) I noticed it been a bit 'tappy' when accelerating (similar to the old Fiesta OHV engines) also seems to be a bit of 'pinking' when accelerating. If I just put my foot down, it doesnt do it, but if I accelerate gently it does. Although 'tappy' noise is still there.
I have been told various reasons including: its normal for diesels, its the injectors, because its cold, could be the fuel (was Tesco switched to Shell or BP, and its still got a bit of Tesco fuel left in) and its the oil. The oil is being changed in the new year when it goes in for its service.
Just wondered if anyone could advise if there is a problem or indeed I am worrying about nothing and its fine. It does seem to get better as it warms up, but still quite loud even when at operating temp. Apart from that it runs 'sweet as a nut'
