    hi i am new to this site so all the help i get will be really appreciated


    this morning i trie to start the car it will turn over but will not fire up i drained the battery trying to start it i recharged the battery and tried again to no avail and body got any tips on what the problem might be it all started when the weather went really damp some mornings it takes 2 or 3 times to start please help

    first 2 things to check, does it have spark when cranking, is fuel getting up to the inlet manifold?

    i can smell the fuel after its been turning over for a while but still no fire up

    Thats not the answer to the question I asked is it? Just because you can smell it doesnt mean it is getting to where it should, get some spanners out and start tinkering. I can help but you have to follow the prompts

    jalfrezigazee just wanted to say thanks for the help i found the problem


    the damp was getting into my dizzy cap dried it all out including HT leads got some ignition sealer spray and so far it has seemed to solve the problem

    i will try and get some pics of my astra posted after christmas i think its in good condition for its age and milliage Merry Christmas
