Correct control adapter leads for Kenwood KDC-BT8141U HU

    Just checking on this one:

It seems that the new KDC-BT8141U head unit won't accept the older steering wheel and display adapter leads, PC99-KEN-DIS and PC99-X06. According to the website I'm using these leads also are not suitable for my existing W6573U head unit? Thought they were?

Anyhow, is it correct that the BT8141U won't work with the display/MFD and needs the following leads to work with the steering wheel controls?

    PC99-X06-KEN

This is apparently the lead to use with my existing HU aswell but I'm now all confused!

    Hi mate,

I'm 99% sure that PC99-KEN and PC99-KEN-DIS are the same bulk lead, but obviously PC99-KEN-DIS has the display bit also. Im pretty confident that if one won't work, the other likely won't either. Even then, you still need PC99-X06 (the Kenwood half) which is no good if it doesn't work with your HU.

This is from the adapter lead table over at http://kenwood-electronics.co.uk/tec...rs/stalk_list/

PC99-X06 is the main part, and is the most expensive. It's the lead that interfaces and 'convert's the signals for the MFD and Display. This is relevant to the car fitting. Then you get the smaller lead which is HU brand specific. This lead is an adapter to tell the HU to talk to the PC99-X06, which then talks to the car. So it's almost like a cascading process. PC99-KEN / PC99-KEN-DIS simply allow the PC99-X06 control box / lead to work with Kenwood. You can get the Alpine equivalent for example, except it's PC99-ALP etc.

Unfortunately, they don't appear to work with the HU we want to buy. I think we need CAW-OP7060.

www.justkenwood.co.uk lists the PC99-XO6-KEN for the BT8141 but has no listing or mention of a display adapter.

Ah I had the names slightly wrong, but you knew what I meant

Hmm, it appears the stalk controls would work, but not the display. I already have them anyway, so I'll let you know if they work if I get it, or I can ask at halfords when I got to play

Pah...tempted myself too much aswell. I was happy with a Nokia CK-7W hands free kit until I realised how the Kenwood bluetooth stuff worked! And then I realised the new BT head unit works even better than just the bluetooth add on for my HU...

Haha yup, I've never used parrot stuff but its supposedly top notch stuff. Kenwood paired with Parrot should be an awesome combo.
