    Help desiel 1.7dtl dead

MY old car for fishing which is a astra 1.7 dtl on a n plate failed emissions test on friday. I have changed the air filter oil, oil filter and the problem i changed the fuel filter as well.

It started and ran lumpy for awhile then died and now will not start. If you losen the top of the injectors there is deseil leaking out so there appears to be fuel to the injectors.

There is s heating elelment on the filter is it possible that i have conected the wrong leads.

Any ideas or test that could be carried out would be greatfully receieved.

    hello dutchmen

you can try cleaning your egr valve, for sure it will be gunged up, that may help with the emissions, but if it's not starting then there's another problem, was it working before you changed the filters? especially fuel filter?

Could still be air in there i guess, possibly trapped. Someone in another thread talked about putting your foot on the accelerator as you start it, once it fires up run it at 4000 rpm for a minute and then cut it back to 3000rpm for a minute. This should make the fuel pump push fuel through.

the best way to blead my old m reg was to start it let it tic over for five mins then floor it about 4000 rpm for about 15-20 seconds then tic over for another min then floor it again but make sure your cam belt is ok first.
    always worked for me.
