what made you buy a vauxhall

    hey,
so what made you all get a vauxhall scene and not ford, pug ect? ill go 1st.

when i passed my test i looked round at different mags to see what was out there what cars had what specs as i wanted a car with alloys central locking sports seats pas and elecy windows, i notice there was loads of ford mags so set my heart on a feasta then i started reading the ford mags and notiecd they are all the same crap cosworths and rs's nothing or stuff with cossy and rs engines transplanted so was put off by that then i stumbled across total vauxhall seen it had more verity and not just the top sports models and got a corsa. although when i sold the corsa i did think about a focus and got a ford mag to see if it had changed abit and it was all still cossys so i got an astra.

    so what about you.

Well i wouldn't of minded any cars lol but my brother used to really know the makes of cars, I asked him about:
    • Renault "Good cars but engine falls apart easily
    • Ford "rusts easier/quicker than most cars"
    • Peugeot "clutch goes easily"
    • VW "all round good"
    • Vauxhall "all round good"
    • Citreon "totally unsafe as its mainly plastic" and also parents said "NO! it means "eating money away" quite literally in cantonese lol
Well I always wanted the mk4 astra but they were quite expensive back then, and the lowest litre is a 1.4 which isn't good for insurance lol.
Was tempted by the 206, but my first driving instructor was a bit of a **** and thats the car we used, so put me of that, Then i learnt to drive in a fiesta mk3, good car but something i don't like about it lol but didn't know what.

When i had my first car my entire family had vauxhalls, i was tempted by vw, but everyone had one

Anyways cutting the whole thing short, i ended with a corsa, not what i wanted, but it got me on the road non the less and learnt to love the little car

When I passed my test I bough a cheap MK3 fiesta as a first car, It was only a 1.1 cheap to run, Then one day my sister was driving it and wrote it off.

So I went down to a local car sales place and looks at cars in my price range and then I seen the MK4 astra and knew that I wanted that car. couple of hours later I left with my MK4.

That was 4 years ago, now I have the MK5 and what a great car that is, Im planning on getting the MK6 if/when it comes out

The style, the reliability, the easily sourced parts, right size for more than two people without compromising on looks.

All teamed with bad Pug experiences

when i passed my test at 19 everyone seemed to have 106's, 306,s and saxos as it was the boy racer kinda thing goin with awful mods and alot of police attention. i wanted to stay away from that scene so decided on an astra mk4 as i liked one my mate had. then when i was 20 i got myself a mk5 sport hatch as theres alot of nice ones on this site and they are fantastic looking cars!

I tried the Ford scene a few times, nothing very spectacular 2 fiestas, two escorts (one bieng an xr3i) Just wasn't impressed tbh, there was just something I didnt 'click' with them. Then had a couple of pugs, hated them, one golf which was doomed from the start (throttle cable came off the pedal on the way back from buying it) had a few vauxhalls inbetween, and preferred them.

I love the rattles, the squeaks, and all the 'usual' niggles that go with them, it gives vauxhalls character lol

I would only change makes if I won the lottery and something really special came along, chances of that are slim to none, so Vauxhall it is

I started off with a mk3 Fiesta, then a red mark 3 Astra followed by another Mk3 astra then moving on my mk 4 coupe.

Im so used to having a vauxhall, i know what to expect when i won them. And theres great list of suppliers for parts and a great magazine as well.
