    Removing EGR valve 2.0 DTi

The Haynes manual comments that for the 2.0 DTi that the EGR isn't available seperately but only as part of the manifold. This has been mentioned in my other thread. It goes on to say the EGR valve shouldn't be removed from the manifold on the 2.0 DTi engine. Has anyone removed it before? I was going to clean it today but am concerned why the Haynes manual would say this?

Here's the EGR valve from a 2.0 DTi just in case it's useful to anyone.

Should the EGR be cleaned ona 2.0Dti then? Would it help to clean it? i need to do my next oil change soon and wonder if it would be good to clean the egr valve at the same time?

Its quite common on BMW diesels to clean them.

Where is the EGR valve on the 2.0DTi? Can you take a braoder picture of the engine bay and circle it on MS Paint or something like that? I want to take mine out to have a gander and a clean

danny, hopefully this will make it clearer for you. remove the engine cover firstly.

It can then be removed and cleaned with carb cleaner although a mate says apparently petrol will so as well and is cheaper. Being a diesel driver I didn't have any petrol kicking about so used carb cleaner.

It only takes 10 mins tbh.

    Mine is a 2001 2.0 DTi, I don't know if its different on post-2002 2.0 DTi's.

Oh also, I cleaned around the hole before I put it back on and as well as the rubber o-ring, I also put some instant gasket around it to try and help seal it better.

This photo is before I cleaned it lol
