People should be banned from doing displays like that, I know its for a good cause and I support fund raising but its getting out of hand these days the amount of houses with these big decorations just around my way is ridiculous the amount of electricity they must waste is immense! And in all honesty its not what christmas is about!!

I think it's fantastic, doesn't cause any harm to anyone else, raises money for a good cause, and the kids love to see it. Wouldn't do it myself mind, but if someone else is happy to do it, i'm happy to take my kids and then donate

Anyone that lives in a house that size, can spend that sort of money on lighting, and power them! Should be able to give a bigger donation to charity without having the 'look at me' factor involved.

    Dont see the point.

I remember seeing someone in the local paper who did this every Christmas. IIRC they spent something like £4000 to buy the lights/decos and fit them up (not including the electric bill) and then seemed very proud that they'd raised the grand sum of around £500 for charity.

That sort of logic is lost on me

OTT. I bet the neighbours must love having a shining beacon that lights the whole of the street lol

Good on them for raising the money though, imagine how long it must take to set that lot up
