    is this common?

    had my mate do a wiring job on my headunit and everything.. now i call him a cowboy for reasons like this.. whenever i put my headunit on my time and date dissapears.. also the inside lights dont work for my AC, my rear window heater and the other button.. they never light up lol

    Unsure on the buttons, but the settings being lost when you turn the ignition off is because the power connections to the head unit are the wrong way around - someone else can probably say which wires to swap!

    date will dissapear with a after market head unit you can get some cables to make the steering controls worked if you have them and dependant on the h/u, lights wise check the fues box if not that then take the panel off and check the bulbs behind

    swap the memory (yellow) and lignition live (red) and the settings will be saved

    I'm getting confused - do you mean that when the head unit is connected your MFD stops showing the date and time? That's normal without additional wiring to connect your MFD to your after market head unit.

    on my stero on the iso i disconnected the Orange wire and time and date stays on the MFD

    Orange wire does the illumination to the headunit. Nothing to do with the MFD..........

    Whats all this talk about swapping wires, there's no talk of it loosing memory?

    the bulbs being out in the centre console may just be coinicidence

    maybe i have a messed iso connector but thats been disconnected (by mistake) and my date stay on now i dunno

    the time and date im not bothered about.. i mean lower down near the ashtray.. the lights for the back screen demister and the AC and the other button.. them lights stopped workin all 3 at once and i cant tell if there on or not lol. i think a wire may be disconnected but not sure if thats something to do with my deck

    thats weird, its commonly know that on vauxhalls you usually lose the date display when you fit an aftermarket headunit unless you snip a wire, however, usually the date and outside temperature still remain in the display.

    so for you to have lost both the time and date says something weird has happened or your mfd is broken.
