astra coupe turbo Warm start issue.

    Hi all first time post.

My wife has a 04 astra coupe turbo that has two issues.

    Issue 1.

after the engine warms up and say you stop to get fuel you cannot restart the car. it turns over fine it just wont fire into action. let it cool for an hour and it starts first time and your away.

also it has just started to cut out when idling in traffic it did this the first time the other day and because it wont warm start then your in a heap of hurt untill it cools after an hour.

SO, im thinking crankshaft position sensor is the first thing to replace, what do you guys think.

    Issue 2

this may be related but idle is smooth then just suddenly drops to almost stall, but then idles fine again for say 10mins, then it again drops, somtimes its almost a stall, other times its just a little blip of a few revs. car idles at 750rpm approx. this problem happens when engine is hot or cold.

    any ideas?

    thanks for your time

    Hello mate and welcome

I've had some recent temp guage issues which I thought may be the sensor but I was told when these go the cars have hot start issues...... Maybe this could be the problem?

What you could try first though is to see if there's any fault codes stored on the car which you can do yourself with the pedals. Just search for pedal test for how to do it and how to read the codes you get

I've also decided you may get a better responce to this in the turbo section of the forum so moved it for you

    Thanks all,

Just been playing and now the idle was really bad and this time it thru up the car with the spanner indicater on the dash. first time it has done that.

I did the brake and accelerater code trick and it works out as code 10 3 3 5 if i count the flashes. (which i guess is error code P0335)
Just need to work out what error that is.

Ok just googled the error code and it is indeed the Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit A.
so either the senor has gone or the wirring is shot. will update after its been to the garage.

thanks bud, but the sensor is being fitted as i type.

as a side note as this says in the error code its do do with circuit A, so its possible it is the ECU going AWOL on me, butting hoping its just the sensor.
