    Exclamation Need Some Help - 1.4 16v Astra G

Hey everyone, cars reached 43k ... dads been using a independant garage to have services and I did the last 2 oil changes (change it every 5k). Because my dad intends to keep the car till it dies on him hes not fussed about having a immaculate 'Vauxhall ONLY' service history... however, whats involved at a 40k service at Vauxhall??? When are the belts changed etc?

Also recently, the cars been playing up ... it happens very rarely but basically, after a intense in-town run around, if I turn the engine off and switch it back on, it hesitates to fire up and electrics do a quick reboot and turn on again resetting the clock/date etc. Weird? any idea what that could be.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Cars a 1.4 16v Astra G just incase you didn't read the title

20,000 interval or 12 months for normal service (small one)
40,000 interval or 2 years for large service
40,000 interval or 4 years for cambelt - manual states this (or did!) as 80,000 miles but they have a habit of failing around the 50-60,000 mark so Vauxhall recommend the 40,000/4yr gap now

Ahhh, knew it ... yeah I just had a feeling cambelt needs changing sometime soon. Will let him know that he needs to cough up for a big service, unless he wants to get screwed in the long run lol.

Ring around for the work - my local garage is about £75 cheaper than a Vauxhall full service and cambelt change.

Also probably work out cheaper to get the parts yourself, i.e the cambelt kit and just pay for the labour to get it fitted. Key thing would be to shop around.
