    Astra 1.6i SXI Chip

Does anyone know if any Chips are availiable out there for faster speed and more MPG?

My previous car i bought a chip from ebay costing £40 that you connect to the Air flow metre, it increased my mpg by 3 more mpg and inproved the acceleration.

Anyone know of these? I have seen a few for Corsa but these are simply just a resistor that you stink some where on the air flow?

Dont buy any resistor - all it will do is eventually kill the engine by over fuelling it

the ones on ebay which retail for anything upto £50 are nothing but a simple resistor which can be had for a few pennies at maplins and the likes

they trick the ECU into thinking its colder outside therefore sending more fuel and therefore resulting in the car running rich and no doubt eventually going bang

best thing u can do is the car a full and thorough service - this should cost about £30-40 in parts and take a few hours max - clean the throttle body, EGR valve and ICV (if its an early model) - few quid for some injector cleaner and you should be onto a winner

Not a good idea in my opinion...as GB says, all they do is fool the ECU so the engine uses more fuel as it thinks the air is colder than it actually is.

The £40 eBay 'chip' was nothing more than a resistor worth pennies...

You'd get as much or more from derestricting the airbox and putting in a Vectra-C deisel intake pipe as per the guides in the 'Technical Section'.

no specific manual but its just a few basics of the engine that differ - everything else on the car should be the same though
