    will a 2.0dti fit into a 1.7dti van?

    right, i've got a 1.7dti van 2000, question is will a 2.0dti engine fit into my van and if so what will i have to change???

    Should fit in as i've got the 2ltr dti, IMO though it would be a nightmare, with the 2ltr's wiring being completely bodged by vx it would be so difficult to make it fit and work it wouldn't be worth the hassle with it.

    Proably better looking at going down the petrol engine route if you're after more poke.

    Yeah, it'd be some kind of huge nightmare unless you've got a whole donor car to strip everything out of. Most of the 2.0DTi have ABS and TC which you'd need to transfer over as well, which means new hubs all round as well.

    You'd be better off selling your current van and buying a 2.0DTi one.

    ah right, no i was just thinking as got offered a astra sri dti very cheap but if its as much hassle as that i'll just leave me van the way it is thanks folks

    sorry to thread crash so to speak but could 1.9cdti engine out of the mk5 astra fit into a mk4 van? my van has the 1.7 cdti in already so guessing with it being the same line of engine it would fit but can one of you technichal people enlighten me any more?

    i think the wiring would be your main issue
    the mk5 uses canbus which is a nightmare
