    K&N or Pipercross?

Im not sure which air filter I should upgrade to,have heard that K&N's cause alot of problems in the winter months(not sure if thats just cone filters),but haven't heard anything about pipercross air filters at all.
Has anyone tried each of these?

Just wanna make sure I do the right thing before ordering one.

If my memory serves me right, K&N's f up due to them being oiled and it ruins the AFM/MAF! Pipercross is just a sponge so it should be fine. What engine is it for?

Its for the old 1.7td engine!

I know its sluggy when cold, not sporty,or fast etc.. but it does me well,I do alot of kayaking, and fishing so its a great economy engine for getting around all the lochs up here

I have both K&N and Pipercross for my 1.8, one gets used while the other is cleaned and put away.

Both make no difference to noise or power but also havent noticed any detrimental effects whatsoever. The oil will only cause a problem if you spray on far too much after cleaning.

2 fine coats is more than enough.

My advice would be to see the thread on de-restricting the standard induction system, get a decent panel filter and a Vectra C Intake pipe

That has been reported to work a lot better.
