    Question (c20xe)Redtop help please.

    Hi,
I know iv posted a thread on a similar subject b4 but it went off track a bit & ended up talking about the wrong engine .

    Right i am looking 2 buy a c20xe 2.0 16v Redtop engine to drop in2 my 1998 S reg G mk4 1.8 16v Sport.
But i dont know much about it all, lol.

What i want to know is what i'll need 2 buy alltogether??
    Any alterations i'll have 2 make?(eg...mounts,electrics,airbox, radiator,gearbox, exhaust......will c20xe manifold fit 2 my existing exhaust or will i have 2 modify it?).
Also can i keep my air-con???

Any advice or hints would be brilliant please!!
    Thanks in advance .

    bits you need/to do are

    1. ecotec adaptor plate and pipe (the sfi box is to big to fit the astra)

    2. shorter auxiliary belt

    3. engine mount

    4. fuel line

    5. xe downpipe needs welding/joining to mk4 centre section exhaust

    6. fuel regulator needs to be removed from inside the mk4 petrol tank

    7. mk4 temp sensor needs to be tapped in to xe thermostat housing

    8. you might need a cable throttle pedal if yours is drive by wire

if you want to keep your aircon your gonna need a mount made for the pump.
im not sure what gearbox is in yours so i wouldn't know if it would fit on to an xe.
    you keep the mk4 radiator.

all you need from the donor car is the engine, loom, ecu, downpipe.alternator, starter motor

    mine hasn't got a 4 branch.
the pipe and plate can be bought HERE cost me around £40 for both iirc.
some people have made mounts out of old xe mounts or whatever fits that's lying around, same goes for the aircon mount.

you can use an ecotec side mount you have to tap out 1 hole on the c20xe engine and modify the cambelt cover and all c20xe come with a 4 branch which you can weld to your original exhaust if yours has an f23 box you just keep it all the same or you can use an f20 or f28 6 speed from a 4wd cavvy or calibra but then you have to convert to cable clutch
