Unhappy Brake Pipes Are Shot :(

Anyone got an idea how much i should be taking a hit for on a full set of brake pipes for a MK4 1.8 astra sport?

Just had the MOT failed because of them and i need to get a couple of prices from some people, garages etc.

I'm in from Newcastle, so if anyone could give me a couple of numbers of garages to ring that are good on price i would be greatful.

    Cheers Guys

    what pipes exactly?

u mean the pipes themselves or the rubber flexi hoses?

any decent garage will just make them up from a big length of piping and add the relevant flanges to the end

im not aware of any garages in Ncle seeing as im on the other side of the water but it all depends on how much pipe u actually need replacing

didnt u get a quote from the garage who did the MOT?

Wherabouts in the toon exactly are u?

ya could pop a question in the regional forum too and see if u have any luck

Humm, one of the front ones (O/S I think) is a pain to do and normally requires the subframe to be dropped down for access.

You can buy the preshapped Vauxhall ones, or get some one to make some up for you by copying them.
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

I'm in Wallsend mate, the garage never gave me a price, then again i totally forgot about it tbh. According to the mot fail sheet, all of them need done as they are knacked.

Agreed. My drivers side one was a complete bitch to do. Did it in the end without dropping the subframe down. Pretty cheap in parts alone but costly on the labour.

A very worthwhile thing to get fixed. Having been driving a car and had the brake pedal hit the floor while doing about 50mph towards the backend of a stationary car at traffic lights, I can say that having a brake pipe pop a hole is NOT fun!

Also happened to me on a different car while I was 4 floors up a multistorey and I had to bring it down the the ground so I could get towed home, that was fun with only a hand brake too!
