It's possible to take it off, and attempt to clean it, but TBH as it's got baked on carbon inside it you aren't gonna get it spotless.

    check to how to's

If this is your car then you'll have a job on your hands as it wont have one!

Z18XE models are EGR-free and have a blanking plate fitted in place on the block

    sorry!

YES it means you dont have an EGR valve....I wouldnt have mentioned it if u did

As for the poor throttle response - personally all I can suggest is whats already been mentioned - ie cleaning the throttle body for starters

whip it off the car if u can and soak it in carb cleaner - grab a clean cloth and wipe it clean so its nice n shiney again - especially round the butterfly

personally id be giving the car a full service - including plugs and all filters - in particular the fuel filter

have u any engine management lights showing?

Hmm...my MK4 1.6 16v ran horrible, slow and used more fuel after derestricting too. Until the ECU got used to the new airflow rates. It now runs at least as efficient if not a little more so.

the drinking fuel after de-restricing can be sorted by resetting the ecu by unhooking the battery cant it?
