I have a x18xe1 powered astra, and recently my engine warning light has developed a habbit of coming on after the car has been sat idling, say at the lights or in slow traffic. It will stay on when I next start up the engine, but only for 15 seconds or so after which it goes off... only to return again a few minutes later.
Before posting this I've search these forums and attempted the popular "pedal test" but, as expected, because I don't have the drive by wire throttle linkage it didn't cause any lights to flash.
Question is, short of taking it to a garage how do I figure out what's causing the light to come on? And can anyone else on here take a guess as to what it is that is causing it to light up?
I know I have to replace my EGR valve as my car has idled lumpy for a while now, but since this light came the "lumpiness" has felt more exaggerated.
Sorry for the newbie questions btw
Thanks for any help
