    Exclamation Help- Error codes!

Hi there. I am in need of help with a, hopefully, little problem.

i Have a 2003 astra bertone 1.8 and recently the yellow light came on dash (car with spanner). Been sifting through the site, which i must say is very helpful!, and stumbled upon the pedal test. done this and came out with the error codes as follows:
    • P1525: Limp home position error
    • P1555: Throttle position sensor (TPS) Load signal not plausable with engine load
    • P1550: Electronic throttle contol (ETC) reduced power; ETC forced idle; etc power management; etc engine stop
I believe there was more than one definition for code P1550 so i listed them all down. Problem is i havnt a clue whay they mean

Reason i am seeking advice now is that the car has been running spot on (even with the yellow light on). However, tonight i went to start and it was under revving and accelerator pedal was not working at all. I did notice that there was no petrol in the car (this is the point at which i hope somebody replies that bertones have some kind of safe mode when no fuel in, causing inoperable accelerator).Anyway, got some petrol out of the shed, put it in, went to start car, and everything was fine again.

    The two questions i am floating accross are;
    1. Does the bertone have some kind of safe mode to prevent A pedal from working when no fuel or are the codes in relation to this and...
    2. What are everybodys experiences on these codes and initially, how do i fix this???
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am now very reluctant to drive the car incase i break down somewhere.

    Thanks.

You need to remove the throttle body and clean it to make it like new again, inc cleaning the centre butterfly edges. This must be done. Then take it to vaux and get the latest ecu program put into it.

I am not that mechanically minded and dont have the confidence to do that myself. How much am i looking to pay for somebody to do that, aswell as the cost of the ECU test?

P1525 - Electronic throttle system (ETS) limp home position malfunction.
    Potential cause: Wiring, ETS

P1555 - Throttle position sensor (TP), Air mass meter (MAF) implausable signal.
Possible cause: Air leak, blocked hose

P1550 - Electronic throttle system in emergency mode
Possible cause: ETS, other trouble codes.

Check your pipes for leaks, replace MAF sensor, clean throttle body, reset ECU and try that.

A little update (although not much to say). I have been monitoring my cars behaviour as i have, as of yet, not been able to put it in a garage. I have noticed, although it may be me being paranoid, that at certain times when the car is at idle it starts to over rev and drop, over rev, drop, over rev etc. The car has done this for quite some time and calms down eventually but as time progresses it seems to happen more violently, if you like.

Thanks for the advice Jam, much appreciated! Definately taken into consideration. Would a garage like kwik fit, for example, do these things for me?

Has anybody else had any similar experiences? any further info would be great as i dont want my bertone, which i have had for not that long, to end up in a scrapyard

Oh, and by the way, sorry for bringing up an old thread.

    Thanks guys

    This may help.......

Maybe slightly different on your car, but the process is pretty much the same.
