    Are my wiper motors buggered?

Recently its started on intermittent to stop half way through the normal cycle, ie at the top of the window not the normal resting place.

Ive changed blades and cleaned the windows and still no luck.

How much is it to replace them etc?

    Is it a mrk4 you've got?

I had exactly the same problem with mine, changed the motor yesterday. Apparently happens when you use the wipers when they're iced to the screen.

Unfotunately not that cheap to replace, cost me £128 for the motor direct from Vauxhall, you may be able to get them cheaper elsewhere though. Not difficult to fit the new one, took less than an hour. Seems to have solved it anyway!

    Thumbs Up

got a motor from a relatively new corsa c in the breakers and it works just fine as it's the same as the astra mk4 motor. 25 notes is all.

Have a look on online breakers and ebay for people breaking cars.

Much better than going to the scrappy and removing your self, now its getting colder anyways.

Mine are doing this, certainly not paying Vauxhall prices! I did vaguely wonder if the MK5 setup would fit then it'd be easy enough to go for the full flat blade wiper conversion....

Someone here did suggest this is down to a loose contact in the motor which can be fixed if you're up for opening the motor housing up, sorting the contact, then using larger screws to put it back together...

As said, probably better to have a look around. Mine had decided to occasionally stop working as well, so not really ideal with the current weather! Price from Vauxhall obviously isn't cheap by any means, but it did come with a year's warranty.

could be the motor, but i suggest you remove the wiper linkage from the motor first, then test the motor. this happened to me i bought a new motor turned out it was the wiper linkage had seized.
