Hi, Ive got a 1.7 td astra on a v plate. Its done 140,000 miles but up until last week was running fine. The only problem it did have was that when running at a steady constant speed the engine warning light would come on. However when you put your foot down to accelerate it was sluggish then the light went out, it picked up and ran fine. This was a problem i was happy to live with until last week when without warning it stopped dead.
On checking there is no fuel being pumped to the injectors. However the fuel filter was empty?. The car is turning over fine , all the dashboard lights appear to be working just no fuel being pumped.
Having had really bad problems with the dixons garage hear i have decided to tackle the problem myself. I have checked fuel lines from tank to filter bowl and from filter bowl to fuel pump and they are clear (no blockages). I have changed the air flow sensor, charge sensor, water temp sensor, accelerator sensor and sump sensor. Still no fuel being pumped.
A have checked the electrical connector to the fuel pump and its getting power when i turn the ignition on.
After reading the forums hear I thought i had the answer and it was going to be the fuel pump ecu attached to the back of the engine and i would be able to resolder but i think thats an isusu engine and i think i have the gm one. Anyone had similar problems with the gm engine and have any ideas?
Sorry for the long post but i thought i would try and explain the position i am in as clearly as possible.
