    Removal of rear screen wiper

I want to remove my rear screen wiper. Anyone know how to do this?

I took all the backing of the boot lid the other day and undid all the mechanisims and the main bolt on the actual wiper but could not get the wiper to come off.

Am I missing something simple here??

Is there a lock ring on the exterior on the shaft sticking through to the outside?

Personally i dont think it would be a good idea, the amount of spray that gets on the back window is bad and i feel the wiper is needed big time!

I was too thinking about having mine removed until i realised how much i really needed it.

Think it would look 100% better without it. I'm sure with some RainX and some perseverence it would work out.

also got this problem (on an astra though), think the wiper arm must seize itself to the mechanism, got as far as you and got stumped in exactly the same place so forgot about it. let us know if you manage to figure it out

The wiper arm seizes on the shaft. Just get a hacksaw blade and cut the shaft on the outside of the window. Piece of p*ss. I've done a few of these. Blank it of with a tap blank from a plumbers merchant.

i never use mine and make a point of not using it because if i do the dodgy old blade (which im not replacing cause i never need it) smeers the window worse than it was before anyway

take it off and please take some pics if you do as i wanna do it
