I'll move it for you now and answer it

What happens is the heated rear window lines get breaks in them and no longer work. I know halfords did a repair kit for them ages ago, not sure if they still do though?

Apart from that it's a new window

Get yourself a multimeter, some masking tape, some emery paper/fine sandpaper & a fine artists paint brush, plus the special repair paint.

If you can see the break proceed as follows:
    • lightly sand the tracks on the window to provide a key
    • Mask off either side of the track, leaving a fine gap
    • apply the special paint sparingly with the artists brush
    • leave to dry, then remove tape & test
If you cannot physically see the break you will first need to use the multimeter to locate the break.
    • set the multimeter to 20v DC range
    • secure the black probe to a good earth point.
    • switch on the rear window heater
    • carefully probe the suspect track at various points along it's length.
    • when you reach a point where the meter changes between 0v & 12v (or vice versa) you have located the break
    • apply the remedy listed above
    Hope this helps.
