I have had Mikes car in at work this week, it had a few minor rust spots on the rear arches and a few dents around the quarter and door!
Here are a few pics and talk-through:
We started by spotting all the dents, thats the boring part, so no pics
Now this is interesting:
We cut a hole in the arch to remove the rusted metal, then we treated the surrounding areas with rust killer once we hit bare metal, heres a close up of the N/S arch:
We found it was the same on the drivers side after going to bare metal, the face of the arch was clean, with no rust, but the back of it was breaking away and it was only a matter of time until it starts to eat through, so we cut a hole, again
Then onto some welding, we (not me ) welded a plate into the areas that were cut away, unfortunately I only got one pic of it before it was welded:
Unfortunately, I had other things to do while the panel beaters skimmed the welds and prepped them for priming! So I have no pics of that
I then primed the repair areas, using Spies Hecker High Build Primer, again no pics of this as I was too busy to remember
Next up was some flatting, oh how fun! So I flatted the primer down with 500 frecut:
Some nice finger marks left there! So I followed over it with a block!
Next up was some scotching, such a 'dead-arm' process, none the less I had to get a picture!
And here are some pics after it has been painted:
Thats it for now, I have to flat and polish the panels tomorrow before he collects it at 5pm, so I will take some close ups of the finish and panel to panel shots too
