    Thumbs Up Technical guides

Just wanted to say how fappin' helpful the technincal guide for removing the front strut from a mk4 was.

I'm currently studying intermediate motor mechanics at college on a one night a week basis, and we are allowed to use the workshop for working on our own cars, anyhoo, I bought some Irmscher springs for the coupe at Billing and hadn't got round to fitting them, decided to have a crack at college and investigated the "how to" side of it as I haven't got a Haynes manual.

A big thanks and thumbs up as it was spot on and really helpful.

    Thanks for reading.

    strut removal is basic stuff.

i sell insurance and i can do engine transplants and rebuilds.

The how-to's are good for when things go wrong.

I would imagine the how to's are there for people who aren't technically minded either.

Seeing as I haven't done it before, I found it helpful.

    I won't bother in future.

WTF is the point in posting to put people down mate? just because you can do an engine transplant, and Mark used a how-to for strut removal..

I'm sure there's things that you can't do, but no-one will put you down if you admit you need/needed guidance...

where have posts like this one come from? AOC was never like this until recently, now its becoming more common (not aimed at you in particular Rizo)...

    - Mark. glad you found the tech guides helpful. any pics of your work?

Nice Mark, wish I had a workshop I could use..

Also not sure what Rizo meant to say . The how to's are great.. if anything I wish there were a few more for even simpler things like removing seats .

Gotta admit, the how to's are extreamly helpful!!

I'm reasonably confident with a spanner, but guides like these are always good!!

Some instances better than a haynes manual!!

    keep it up!!

Fair play with sorting your stut out Mark!!

what i was trying to say is the guides are helpful, but if your doing a mechanic course surely strut removal would be basic stuff? not trying to put anyone down and sorry if it came across that way and surely there must be a qualified mechanic there to help/show you?

    Thanks for the comments guys.

I'll try and sort some before and after pics for you.

The springs are Irmscher -40mm, must admit the ride doesn't feel that much different to before, which is nice.

Rizo, yes there is a qualified mechanic there, but the course is designed to be hands on so that you learn yourself, it's only a part time course over 2 hours an evening.

Apparently, it's the equivalent of NVQ 1 - fast fit. It's a 450 hour course with only 60 hours in college, the rest is done at home.

Strut removal may be basic stuff, but if you don't know what you're doing, a how to pays dividends, besides, I'm only in my 4th week and all we've done so far is health and safety + brakes - discs, drums, front and rear.

Mania - the ramp was awesome, wouldn't have done it in 2 hours without it!
