so can i drive a 7.5t wagon?
sorry for the randomness of this thread, but the company i work for is going down the pan, and i've been offered a job by a friend of a friend drivin a 3.5t or 7.5t wagon......so just need to know
Nope sorry matey
only those who passed their test prior to 1 Jan 1997 have the 7.5t entitlement when they pass their car test.
So all those afterwards can only drive vehicles upto 3.5t (ie a normal car licence)
If u wanted to drive a 7.5t then youd need a seperate C1 (3.5-7.5t) licence
obviously if u get ur category C licence (rigid vehicles from 3.5t upwards) then u automatically acheive sub category C1 (3.5-7.5)
The same goes for minibuses being D1 sub category
Those past before 1 Jan 97 automatically have this sub category and can drive 9-15 seaters,,,,, but those afterward - ie u can only drive on a car licence which means anything upto 3.5t and 8 seats
So NO u definitely cant legally drive anything above 3.5t on your existing licence.
I too was like you - I just missed out on the 97 date ... but I completed both Class 1 & Class 2 HGV so can now drive anything lol (only one i dont have is PCV .... yet!)
Sorry its not the answer u wanted buddy
