    engine temp question

hi. ive just bought a 2001 coupe turbo. the engine temp usually sits just above 80. although sat in traffic it goes up to and just over half way. its my first turbo'd motor so was just wondering if this fluctuation is normal? also what temp will the fan cut in at? any help will be much appreciated. thanks. bren.

    Hey buddy,

As long your temps does not go above 95 then everything is fine.

I thought the fans should come in at 92 or 95 degrees, not 100% sure TBH.

If you are stillconcerened, it maybe worth dropping out your coolant and flushing the system and refilling. a clogged up system doesn't cool as efficiently.

    Lads...

We've got 3 diffrent fan speeds....

1st one is at 92 degrees second one starts at 95 and the third one starts if it cant cool down the system (95 to lower) while the third one starts your cooling light on your dash will turn on.

I had thos while i was in bosnia and it was round 44 degrees outside .

Hope it''ll help a little bit.

If you are still worried about engine temperature in traffic etc, turn your heater on/up and open the vents, helps reduce the engine temperature considerably, enough to stop the fan cutting in.
