    X20XEV Question

Hi I have a 1997 Astra 2.0i 16v (X20XEV) ... Now I've seen a few pictures of this engine and one thing I can see is different on some... This one has a pipe coming off the right front of the cam cover! Where is it going and why??

Mine is like this... with the plastic box on it!! Why is it capped off??

Please help, I need answers Also my cam belt cover is loose? How do I fix it? And... where do I get one of those cone air filters and how much are they??

Thankyou in advance for any answers

Thanks Ben... why would my cambelt cover come loose? I take it i'd need to take the airbox out to access the bolts?

    Cheers

cone Air filters aren't recomended with that engine unless lots of cold air feeds going to it because it suffers badly from heat soak if however you can sheild the cone filter from the heat and like i said cold air feed go for it.

The general consensus and by far the cheaper option is to put a vectra C air feed pipe and a K&N panel filter as well as deristrict your current airbox the links to the how too's are below:

IIRC the box was a fix brought out by vauxhall to cure lumpy and uneven idle in the X20XEV engine.

That breather gets clogged easily if used on short journeys a lot, and as a field cure, vauxhall started fitting these to X20XEV engines as thery were coming in for service.

At least thats what the master tech in the service dept. at Toomey vauxhall said when I asked that question about my old Calibra!!
