Question How much for a cambelt change?

So it's come around again .... I got a £210 quote from VX and promptly moved on ... Then a quote for £124 ...

    What are you lot paying?

have an interest in the thread as i'll be having mine done within the next 9k miles

Though, a curious question about Vaux....

A lad i work with told me he had his car in with Vaux & they gave him a car to be going on with while they had his.

Then again, this lad usually doesn't know what time of day it is. Just wondered if this was about right?

    Hey Kev,

There was no mention of a courtesy car in that price.....

he said it was free as well

i found this very hard to believe. He said all he had to do was take his insruance certificate in and he got this car while they were working on his.

As said, he does like to waffle on a bit though

Vauxhall do not give free courtesy cars, mine went in this morning and i have been charged £10 per day for the car.

As fof the belt change mine was done at Vauxhall before i got the car, so dont have to worry about it for a while.

    £60 for timing belt kit
    £30 for water pump
    £80 for 2 hours labour

    JOB SORTED

Source all the parts yourself - ebay is best for genuine parts and get a local independent garage to fit them

    Easy as that

Remember a lot of the quotes u get might just actually be for the belt ONLY!

Some might be for the full kit but best off if u can do what everyone on here advises and get the water pump done at the same time

yeh its cheaper but it's highly recomended to change water pump at the same time as obv if you go to all the work to change the belt the pumps there that price is probs for just the belt ??
