    Touch up pencil kit help...

    Hi all!

I have got myself a Vauxhall touch up pencil and lacquer kit.

I have a few deepish scratches I want rid of and after using scratch removal pastes (Turtlewax) they are too deep to get rid of bar using a touch up kit.

Am i right in thinking I apply the paint first, then when that is dry go over this with the lacquer to protect it?

    My car is star silver!

    Thanks

Can't answer your question, but as this has dropped onto page 2 i'm curious as had the idea for myself & am curious how it turns out. Mine is black though, so i IMAGINE a bit more obvious if i **** it up.

Come back with some before/after shots if you can

Shouldn't there be primer also? I got one from halfords and it had primer, paint and lacquer, ive used it on my silver car and its turned out pretty well.

i bought one of those halfords kits & IIRC it came with primer, but not sure about lacquer though. Sure there were only 2 pens, one being primer, and 1 being paint. Hmmm.

And i wasn't impressed at how it came out. Perhaps i could've got a decent look, and perhaps it was me just being crap at it but you could see the paint lines EASILY. Needed an uber fine pen nib for the job really, but even then i'd have probably still made it look pants.

The Halfords ones comes with primer.

    The Vauxhall ones don't.

On Star Silver, you'll do very well on getting a good colour match tho.

    Cheers for the replies guys.

I have had a scout round on the net and found that initially its a good idea to go very easy with the paint and use the finist artist brush possible or failing that a cocktail stick! I have some small scratches on the rear bumper which I reckon ill use as my very small test area first as the area I want to use the kit on is on the back wing just under the rear windows.

    Thanks again!
