    GSi security

Im worried that the Cat 2 alarm on my mk4 GSi is not good enough to stop b***** thieves jacking it

I have a toad cat1 ready and waiting to go on. Should i bother? Is it actually that much better?

    Also, are GSis stolen fequently?

tbh i dont think i have ever heard of one being nicked

there was once an SRI-TURBO stolen but there were even doubts about if it had been or just broke up

so if it were me i would just leave it

As above said it's Cat 1, immobilization via software lock so meaning you can't hot wire it like the Cat 1 that you are going to put on, But every little helps

I bought one of those 'disklok' things for when I have to leave my motor in an area I'm not sure of (that would be my home area due to recent car thefts).

Its simple, cheapish and may put your mind a bit more at ease if you have this and an alarm too?

3 years ago, a theif/theives broke into my GSi. They tried stealing it by smashing the coloumn off and starting it with a screwdriver.n This set the alarm off and they scuttled. But this left me with a car that you could not start or drive. Now, knowing just how easy it was for them to bypass the alarm, i had another cat 1 fitted which backs up the original but all works from the standard fobb. I also delocked the drivers door. Had they off not tried stealing it and stripped it, the alarm would of never gone off and i'd of woken up to an stripped car.

if i was you id fit it. Id also fit switches behind the front bumper as ive had that nicked from my car as you can remove it from the outside!
