Bloody annoyed, nothing goes right, I need some advice

Well the car failed its first MOT a while back and it produced a sheet of A4 plus of problems. My thought was simple solve the problems and the car has 100% certainly got the MOT in the bag.

    How wrong was I

Its had a retest today, for what I thought would be a formality and you guessed it - FAILED Gutted

So the problem - its failed on emissions, apparently they are through the roof (typical) so my question is any ideas on how to get it down?

    So info that may help:

    • The car has not really run for more than a few minutes for the best part of 5 years.
    • Its got a very small amount of fuel in and to be honest its old fuel as well.
    • It was run for a period fo time before the test was done and it didnt really help matters
    • Although its a tuned V6 engine its got a sports CAT and custom made exhaust from BTB, so I am fairly sure that shouldnt be the issue.

    Ideas to help?:

    • Would adding a fuel cleaner help?
    • Would running it on super unleaded help?
    • Would a full tank of fuel help?

Basically I am up shit creak and need some advice, cheers for any info, a gutted Mat

Sorry to hear that mate but ive heard a few tricks that can help.

    1) Super unleaded fuel of some discription
    2) Fuel additive like red-ex
    3) Get the cat really hot!

Id imagine that its not helping that the car hasn't been driven or running for ages too.

What ive listed above may not help enough if like you say the emissions are through the roof tho

Good luck for the re-test tho

flush the fuel tank before you put any fresh fuel in it -in the past 5 years with small amount of fuel in it allowed to create condensation so you not burning clean fuel hence high emissions

Put fuel in along with some fuel additive, but if the emmissions are through the roof then thats not really going to make a huge differance.
Personally I would say you want to start making some new friends, preferably one thats a sympathetic MOT tester problem solved.

MOT tester is sympathetic to a point, the one thing he is strict on is the emissions though I will try and get some figures tomorrow and see how far it is out....

I am hoping its just the fact its sat doing nothing, and not something more time/money consuming!

Asrats tester was super strict!! He said you will be pulled every 5 seconds this car needs to 100% perfect

If I give it to Brett it will have duck tape holding somethign together in leass than 5 seconds

Seems an odd things to be strict on tbh. Get the car onto some private ground and get some running time on it.
