1997 Astra 2.0i Sport - Any 'how to' guides on fitting handbrake cable

Hi guys my handbrake has snapped just next to the o/s rear drum. i have the cable but was wondering whether this is doable for an amateur and if yes can someone give me a small guide on how to get it done?

I know I have to jack the rear, remove wheels, take the cover off drums... from here i'm stumped but think I may be able to blunder my way through!

    Any help appreciated

    Cheers, Ally

easy, remove the rear shoes by twisting off the retainers. Slide clip out. Undo the 13mm nut on the bottiom of the hand brake lever then slide cable out. To refit reverse that sequence but make sure you know how the springs etc fit in place on the shoes. You can take one side off, replace cable then do second side

The cable i have is 2 parts connected to a bracket, one longer than the other... the cable that connects to the hand brake lever isn't a part of this is it, it connects to the bracket?

    Is that right?

hahaha, I was wondering about that when I did the earlier write up but you only mentioned disks. In that case just remove from under the lever and unhook the ends. fitting is the opposite
