    Brake lights problem

    Hi,
first of all can somebody tell me what section of my rear light is the brake? May sound obvious but is imperative to answering the following.

My issues is that the section above the reflective strip was constantly staying lit when the ignition was on as if i were braking. This was only the case for the High Level brake light and the drivers side but after changing my reverse bulbs and my number plate display bulb it now applies to the passenger side also.

I have bought and replaced the relevant fuses. When i took out Fuse 38 the problem disappeared but it left me with no brake lights. When the fuse is in the lights stay on constantly and do not change when i apply pressure to the brake. My reverse lights are also not working. I have changed what i beleive to be the relevant fuses but still nothing. All other lights are working perfect as i have checked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read.

If it's the switches at fault then they will need replacing. Brake light switch is under the dash on the drivers side, reverse light switch is on the gearbox

Just out of curiosity, could it be anything else?

Have i checked the correct things and would you suggest i do anything before changing the switches?

If the fuse was blown the brake lights wouldn't work at all, if they only came on all the time when say the lights were on they could come on because of a faulty bulb

The side light bulb but you didn't say the brake lights only stay on when the lights on the car are on?
