get a volt meter and check the voltage, it should be 12v when the cars not running, and i think 14.4v when the car is running

Well logical thinking would go like this.. Car was bought brand new with a vaux battery, 5 years later it was replaced with some halfords batt...4 years later...hopefully its just a new battery i need, but naturaly i dont want to spalsh out on a new one just yet.

Have you checked the battery fluids,
Mine looked as if it was on the way out, checked all six chambers.
first 5 were fine, 6th was dry as a bone.
Topped up with De-ionised water and now it seems as good as new.

if you put a volt meter on it should read about 12.6v and my car charges about 13.8 v

with the battery light flashing id be looking at the alternator side of it either loose or mucky connection to battery or a mucky or loose mounting point you can also check the strap that goes from the engine block to the chassie

have you ever had the auxilary belt changed as that could be slipping or not tensioned right

just a few things to check

When i was turning the wheel last night the lights were dipping, however no light came on. When i rev the car hard the light comes on for a few seconds and goes. Alternatior is only 2 months old and was working fine. So im assuming its a battery issue...i hope!

I would go down to halfords in uxbridge but the last time i was there took them 20 minutes to tell me they didnt have the correct locking wheel nuts lol

Seems i need to get a hold of a volt meter
